Multi-year experience (23) in the Cyprus Ministry of Health - Nicosia General Hospital and Larnaca General Hospital - with last position being the Director/Chairman of the Department of Surgery. Introduced innovative techniques and technologies in Surgical Oncology. Developed of the ‘Liver Tumor destruction (Radiofrequency Ablation-RFA) programme’ on a national basis (2004-2012).
I pioneered the establishment of Liver and Pancreas Surgery in Nicosia General Hospital and nationally. One of the two Surgeons who performed the first Pancreatic Resection in Cyprus (Whipples’ procedure for pancreatic cancer in 1992).
Committed in surgical education with thorough teaching and training experience with Surgical Residents, Junior Doctors and Medical Students.
Extensive and continuous training and professional development in hospitals in the USA and UK.
Former President of the Cyprus Surgical Society (2010–2012) and National Representative of Cyprus/Ministry of Health to the EU on issues of Organ Donation and Transplantation (2010–2017). A member of numerous international scientific surgical societies, he has been invited as a speaker at conferences and has presented dozens of papers and publications at conferences and in international medical journals
