A patient was transferred to our hospital with pseudoaneurysm of the ascending aorta following cardiac surgery.
This was managed successfully by the transcatheter method.
The case was done using the Figulla FlexII ASD closure device from OCCLUTECH through the radial artery.
There are only few case reports worldwide of this method. It is the first case done transradially.
Ascending aorta pseudoaneurysms are a rare complication following thoracic and cardiac surgery.
They represent potentially fatal conditions that are traditionally treated surgically.
However, surgical management is often complicated by poor outcomes with high morbidity and mortality.
The transcatheter method is a safe alternative to surgery.
